HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR WAX APPOINTMENT

• There are certain medications and products that
should NOT be taken or used if you plan on having
any waxing treatment. Topical exfoliants used on
the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Retinols,
Adapalene, Tretinoin, Renova, Hydroquinone,
AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), BHA (beta hydroxy
acids). Oral acne medications such as Accutane,
blood-thinning medications, & topical/oral
cortisone make the skin more sensitive and
increase the likelihood of irritation or other
complications. Please check with your doctor if
you are unsure whether you should be waxed
while on or using any medication.
• If you are currently using any topical exfoliants
like the ones listed above, you are NOT a
candidate for waxing on the area that the
medication is applied.
• If you are on any oral acne medications like the
ones mentioned above, you are NOT a candidate
for waxing on any part of the body.
• Hair must be a quarter of an inch (1/4 inches in length &
about 10-14 days of growth) to adhere correctly to the wax.
• Resist the urge to shave in between sessions. Please don't
shave for at least three weeks prior to your appointment to
ensure that your hair is long enough! I will trim any longer hairs to the proper length prior to the removal process.
Shaving chafes the skin and creates sharper, coarser hair!
• Gently exfoliate the night before or take a warm bath to
prep the skin before your wax. Having a warm bath or
shower before your wax can soften your skin allowing for
easier hair removal. I also recommend exfoliation the night
before as this removes dead skin build up around & in the
follicle again aiding in easier & more thorough removal. I
suggest gently dry brushing OR using a gentle exfoliating
scrub.
• Cleanliness is appreciated, but please skip the lotion prior
to your appointment, you'll get better results if your skin is
less oily.
